Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution jointly launch DBx-A1

Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution unveil DBx-A1

In a landmark step towards modernising global military logistics, Urban-Air Port (UAP) has joined forces with UK-based UAV innovator Drone Evolution to launch the DBx-A1—an advanced, mobile UAV logistics and launch system tailored for modern warfare.

This high-impact partnership leverages UAP’s global leadership in UAV launch infrastructure with Drone Evolution’s specialisation in First Person View (FPV) and autonomous UAV technology. The collaboration is designed to address the growing challenges facing today’s defence forces as they adapt to a world increasingly dominated by drone warfare and rapid-deployment needs.

A tactical game-changer

The DBx-A1 is a fully integrated, mobile UAV platform engineered to enable rapid, secure and scalable deployment of reusable and one-way drones. In contested environments, where operational tempo and survivability are critical, this system transforms how uncrewed aerial vehicles are launched, managed and maintained.

The DBx-A1 combines launch capabilities with charging, maintenance, repair, and mission coordination into a single deployable unit. This allows forces to operate at pace while significantly reducing personnel exposure. The system is compatible with all standard Palletised Load System vehicles, making it easily transportable and seamlessly integrated into existing defence logistics.

Designed for small-unit tactics and large-scale theatre operations, the DBx-A1’s versatility and adaptability are key to its appeal. It supports autonomous UAVs for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions and FPV drones capable of precision strikes.

Addressing the rise of drone warfare

The shift towards low-cost, agile UAVs and drone swarms has exposed many traditional defence systems. Delays in logistics and a lack of infrastructure to support high-volume UAV operations have created vulnerabilities on the battlefield. The DBx-A1 directly tackles these problems with a forward-operating platform that can be rapidly deployed and scaled to fit any mission profile.

This innovation is akin to transitioning from improvised launch sites to fully equipped UAV airbases that can move with the frontline. Reducing drone preparation time, improving launch reliability, and enhancing mission scalability are central to maintaining dominance in increasingly drone-centric warfare scenarios.

Angus Benson-Blair, former British Army Major and now Board Advisor at Urban-Air Port, said, “Mass UAV deployment in high-threat environments is logistically complex and exposes war fighters to risk. The DBx-A1 delivers secure, rapid, and repeatable launch capabilities, ensuring mission success in dynamic battlespaces.”

British technology, global impact

This new system highlights the strength of British innovation in defence technology. Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution align their technologies to create an exportable, scalable platform to strengthen allied defence capabilities worldwide.

Urban-Air Port, known for pioneering ground infrastructure for UAVs and hybrid VTOL aircraft, has developed solutions for civilian and military applications. With the DBx-A1, the company takes a significant step into the defence sector, providing essential infrastructure for future air combat operations.

Andrea Wu, CEO of Urban-Air Port, stressed the strategic value of the collaboration. “The DBx-A1 closes critical gaps in UAV logistics, delivering a decisive edge through secure, scalable, and covert drone swarm operations for ISR and strike missions. Partnering with Drone Evolution, we are integrating cutting-edge UAV and logistics solutions that redefine defence capabilities worldwide, empowering forces to dominate evolving battlespaces with precision and speed.”

Drone evolution’s role in next-gen defence systems

Drone Evolution brings to the table its robust UAV portfolio, including the Scimitar, Sentinel and Runner platforms. These systems are optimised for missions ranging from surveillance and reconnaissance to tactical supply drops and direct engagement.

The Runner drone, with a 20-kilometre range and a 5-kilogram payload, is a mid-range, quick-deploy UAV that can be integrated with the DBx-A1 platform. By enhancing these systems through the DBx-A1, forces gain increased agility and logistical efficiency.

Toby Townrow, Founder and Business Development Director at Drone Evolution, highlighted the strategic importance of this domestic collaboration. “Our partnership with UAP streamlines autonomous and FPV UAV deployment, reducing risk and enhancing operational efficiency. By integrating our Scimitar and Runner systems with the DBx-A1, we are delivering cutting-edge solutions that strengthen global security, consistent with our mission to secure the supply chain for UAVs by building and manufacturing in the UK.”

A platform built for agility and security

The Dbx-A1 is based on security and operational flexibility. It is designed to operate covertly in frontline positions, supporting rapid redeployment while minimising risk from enemy detection or signal interference. This enables defence forces to maintain aerial dominance through sustained UAV activity with a minimal human footprint.

The DBx-A1 ensures consistent performance across complex and hostile environments, from remote surveillance missions to swarm-based strikes. Its modular architecture supports a range of UAVs and payloads, providing future-proofing as drone technology continues to evolve.

Looking to the future

Signing a memorandum of understanding between Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution formalises a long-term strategic alliance to scale UAV logistics infrastructure for modern warfare. With the global defence landscape shifting, this partnership sets the stage for Britain to lead the next chapter in drone-enabled combat readiness.

As UAVs become increasingly central to national security strategies, the DBx-A1 is set to become a cornerstone of global drone warfare logistics. Urban-Air Port and Drone Evolution are redefining how modern militaries engage in dynamic and high-threat environments by enabling large-scale, rapid, mobile, and secure drone operations.
