In Hong Kong this August
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has been announced as the title sponsor for Bitcoin Asia 2025, one of the largest digital asset conferences in the region.
The event is scheduled to take place in Hong Kong from August 28 to 29, drawing attention from across Asia, the Middle East, and global financial hubs.
Metaplanet, which holds 15,555 BTC on its corporate balance sheet, is the largest listed corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia and ranks fifth globally. Its sponsorship role comes at a time when institutional appetite for Bitcoin across Asian and Middle Eastern markets continues to rise.
The company’s involvement signals growing corporate interest in digital assets as reserve holdings. Regional analysts note this trend may resonate in parts of the Middle East, where sovereign wealth funds and large corporations are examining alternative stores of value amid persistent dollar volatility.
Metaplanet’s chief executive, Simon Gerovich, said the timing of the conference aligns with what he sees as a pivotal decade for Bitcoin. He cited rising institutional demand and a shift towards long-term capital strategies based on decentralised assets.
While Bitcoin remains volatile, some public firms are positioning it as a core part of their treasury strategies. Metaplanet’s approach — including regular disclosures of its Bitcoin purchases — has drawn interest from fund managers and capital allocators seeking greater transparency in crypto-related financial governance.
Bitcoin Asia 2025 organiser BTC Inc. said Metaplanet’s participation underlines a broader transformation in corporate finance. BTC Inc. chief executive David Bailey said firms embracing Bitcoin-native strategies are redefining how balance sheets are managed.
The conference will take place against the backdrop of significant regulatory developments across Asia and the Gulf. Several financial free zones in the UAE — including Abu Dhabi Global Market and Dubai International Financial Centre — have introduced frameworks to licence digital asset activities. These regulations have encouraged dialogue between Asian and Gulf institutions on cross-border crypto initiatives.
Analysts suggest Bitcoin Asia 2025 may serve as a platform for greater Gulf-Asia collaboration. Delegates from the Middle East are expected to attend, with over 10,000 participants anticipated from across the financial and crypto sectors.
This year’s event is part of the wider Bitcoin Conference global series, which includes editions in Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Organisers hope the 2025 summit will cement Asia’s role in shaping the future of decentralised finance.
Metaplanet’s presence as title sponsor comes amid its growing profile in global capital markets. The firm has been included in several exchange-traded products, offering institutional investors regulated exposure to Bitcoin without the need for direct crypto custody.
As global monetary policies remain unpredictable, the increasing participation of corporate entities in Bitcoin-related strategies suggests a continuing shift in how companies manage long-term value and navigate financial uncertainty.
